You know, I've come to the realization that the real world hits you in the face like a ton of bricks. And I don't necessarily mean "life outside of HP-fandom" (although it certainly encompasses it); more to the point, I mean "life outside of school." Or really "financial independence from your parents now that you have graduated from university and trying to keep abreast of flying legal agreements in your first corporate job."
My daily schedule looks something like this:
7:30am Wrench self out of bed and try to find variations on the same dress-shirt-and-black-pencil-skirt combo have worn for three months.
8:00am Wish that
just for once you want to wear something with more personality. Decide between the 50s floofy black skirt with cute cardigan and semi-ironic pearls or the 60s-mod outfit with thin silvery jewelry and white-and-black houndstooth jacket. Still in disbelief that argyle is too casual for the office.
8:30am Have calming cigarette with roommate (also in corporate legal assistant job) outside before catching subway.
8:50am Arrive in office. Have cup of tea, possibly balance bar for breakfast. Lurk in fandom, read
Overheard in New York,
The New York Times, and
CNN.
9:00am to 8:00pm Frantically juggle five different client-matters simultaneously, edit agreements, compile signatures, distribute closing sets, and decipher what foreign clients have to say for 11 hours. Do not eat lunch, but maybe munch on another balance bar or other assorted 100 Calorie snack-packs.
8:30pm to 10:30pm Have two hour detox at gym.
10:45pm Glance around pitifully at refrigerator filled with condiments and beer. Peer hopefully into cupboards with two very old boxes of pasta. Contemplate ordering takeout. Decide it's too much effort. Eat another balance bar.
11:00pm Have shower.
11:15pm Lurk online some more until pass out.
So, looking back, it came as a slight shock to me that it has been TEN months since I last posted anything in this journal and probably a year or more since I've posted anything substantive. And now I think I know why. (Even as I type, I'm filing signatures at the same time.)
Sometimes I think I cheated myself out of an extra year of fandom fun by graduating from NYU early. But most times I think of the astounding ineptitude of NYU's bureaucracy and sigh with relief.
But anyway, in a sort-of-but-maybe-not-really symbolic rebirth (or really just snatching bits of sanity time and scribbing drabbles and doodling drawbles on the side), I am re-posting all my old art. In the near future, expect to see more...something.
I have a tablet now anyhow and I'm itching to use it for fanart.
Massive re-post! This was back in my obsessive femmeslash + Cho phase (to which I am swinging back).
